OUR MISSION

Protecting
the pets you love, one tag
at a time.

We are on a mission to reunite lost pets with their owners through the power of everyday technology.

Doggone is much more than just
a reuniting service.

Doggone doesn’t just help to keep pets safe and owners happy. It also keeps communities safe,
and allows everyone to help keep dogs out of shelters and at home where they’re loved the most.

OUR STORY

Meet Doggone’s Founder, Tracy Austin

Doggone’s founder, Tracy Austin, is passionate about creating IT solutions to keep people (and the ones they love the most) safe and sound. Tracy is often fondly referred to as ‘The Helicopter’ – always hovering making sure everyone is safe and well.

Being the proud mum of two teenage sons, two dogs, two cats and 18 fish as well as working full time, she simply doesn’t have the time to go searching for errant pets! Having personally experienced losing a pet that sadly crossed ‘the rainbow bridge’, she wanted to make sure others could avoid that dreadful experience, so the idea of Doggone was born.

In a world using smart technology for everything, and an expectation of immediate information, Tracy created Doggone to provide an easier and immediate way to resolve the everyday problem of lost and wandering pets. Simple technology that is widely adopted and accessible to everyone has been key to Doggone’s success.

OUR WHY

Modern solutions to an
age-old problem

Pets going for a wander is a story as old as time. Fortunately, modern technology means it’s getting easier and easier to be reunited with our wandering pets. But ‘modern’ doesn’t always mean easy to use, accessible or affordable.

We’ve carefully designed our tags and reuniting service with all members of the community in mind – opting for easy rather than complicated.

Our text tags use simple yet super fast SMS technology that absolutely anyone with a phone will know how to use, giving your pets the best chance possible to make their way back home.

And we haven’t stopped there. We’ve been working on our smart tags (pre-order available now!) which use 4G and GPS technology to let you know where your pets are, to within 5 metres!

And what’s even better – our smart tags can act as a phone, allowing the finder to connect with the lost pet’s owner with the push of one button. Simple right?

HUTT CITY COUNCIL TRIAL

A tried and tested solution

We first launched Doggone in 2019 as a trial with the Hutt City Council with over 4,000 Lower Hutt pet owners joining. During the initial two year trial, our text reunite service reunited over 1,600 dogs with their owners.

That’s at least two dogs every single day reunited with their owner, kept safe, and not wandering the streets afraid and alone. Following the trial, Doggone has now managed to help over 2,200 dogs get back home to their owners.

We know we’re on to something special. And we’re confident the millions of pet owners in New Zealand will too. That’s why we’ve opened up our Doggone services nationwide – ensuring all pet owners can enjoy peace of mind.
