information about the dog’s owner is available to a third party through the App.
It’s wonderful to have interest in Doggone’s partnership with Hutt City Council. Doggone is fully compliant with the New Zealand Privacy Act and no information about a dog, its location, or information about the dog’s owner is available to a third party.

As a point of correction in the article published by the NZ Herald – Doggone is fully compliant with the New Zealand Privacy Act and NO information about a dog, its location, or information about the dog’s owner is available to a third party through the App. Only the pet’s owner, or any other carer that the owner nominates in their secure portal in the Doggone app, will have access to information about their dog.

The reference to the number on the tag in the article is the dog’s registration number which can be texted to Doggone’s free 4133 text service for the emergency contact details for the dog (as nominated by the dog owner) to be made available. The owner can also use the Doggone app to include any important medical or behavioural information about the pet, which will be provided in the text message sent to the finder.
